  • I failed...

"Every day you don't put up a blog post, you've failed....."   Seth said that to me last month. He was calling me out for hiding. For not shipping.   So I promised him that I would blog every single day.   For the month of December, I wrote a blog post every day for 29 days straight. On the 30th day, I stopped. I failed.   Seth sits 20 feet away from me in our office right outside New York.   You can imagine how awkward it is when I know that he knows that I haven't written a blog post when I promised that I would.   Shipping was hard and felt unnatural. I didn't have anyone to talk to who was doing the same thing, and it just felt easier to stop.

  • Trying again

This experience got me thinking: what if a group got together and decided to push ourselves to see if we could ship regularly?   Even in the month that I was blogging every day, I could feel myself getting better at shipping in other areas of my life: moving faster on projects, pushing ideas out the door, speaking up more.   This energy was contagious. The idea behind the Your Turn Challenge is that if we ship in small steps — and do it together with a fierce and like-minded tribe — we prove to ourselves that we can do it.
